Home of the Amazon Team

Far to the west of the lands of men, across the great ocean, lies the tropical realm of Lustria. Lustria is sacred to the lizardmen and the slann, for it is here that the old ones settled in the dawn of the world - long before their exodus, and the collapse of the warpgates.
Though known to the elves, the existence of Lustria remained unknown to man until as late as a thousand years ago. That is - unknown to all but one man - Losteriksson the norseman. Losteriksson discovered Lustria by accident  600 years before his peers. Unable to return home, he founded the colony of Skeggi in the eastern seaboard.

It is from Skeggi that the Amazon culture evolved. At some point a lot of the women became fed up with the crude menfolk, and they left Skeggi to live deep in the jungle. Cut off from other human societies, the Amazons went native, mimicking in many ways the habits of the tribal slann.
Amazon society is based on the rather sensible assumption that men are, on the whole, a fairly dull and dimwitted lot, best employed performing simple menial tasks. This leaves Amazon women to concentrate on higher things - and their highly succesful society has established enclaves all over eastern Lustria.

Ever since the Amazons penetrated the jungle, the lizardmen of the south have waged constant war upon them, coupled with skirmishes against tribes of Slann, and later on against settlers from other parts of the world. The constant warfare led to the establishment of a strong warrior ethic amongst the Amazons, who train in the art of war almost as soon as they can walk. Soon enough, their enemies learned to avoid them, and the slow cessation of hostilities has left many of the Amazons at rather a loose end - and considering their warrior culture, its hardly surprising that they've turned to playing Blood Bowl.

Whether they discovered Blood Bowl by spying on a match between settlers, or were taught the game by the Slann tribes, the game became very popular indeed - its mix of mayhem and tactics appealing to the Amazon warrior psyche.
The Amazons are famed for their fluid grace and savage power, and excel in the type of open conflict fought in the dense jungle and on the blood bowl pitch alike. The thrill of battle is what they train and live for, and what they do best. Couple this with their special appeal to both the male and female spectators - and you'll see that Amazon blood bowl teams are here to stay!

Amazon Teams
The amazons lend a certain femininity to Blood Bowl. As graceful as they are dangerous, they do not shun the brutality that is otherwise associated with the men-folk.
