Home of the Wood Elf Team

In millenia past, the high elves had colonized much of the known world, their cities rising tall on every coast, but an evil scheme hatched by their twisted dark elf brethren, plunged them into bitter war with the dwarves, a war that exhausted elf and dwarf empire alike. When the dark elves invaded Ulthuan, the high elves had no choice but to abandon their colonies. Only a few high elves refused, and chose instead to seek refuge in the forest realm of Athel Loren - "the wood of the dawning of the world".

The elves soon adapted to life in the forest, living and roaming among the trees, hunting game and gathering the fruits of the wood. Cut off from the knowledge and civilization of their distant kindred, they evolved quite differently, they became hardier and simpler folk, and inadverdently avoided the temptations which beset their high elf kin. Intuition rather than learning has become their source of wisdom, and instinctive cunning has replaced tortuous contemplation. The wood elves have acquired an innate understanding of nature, a distrust of all strangers, and an awareness of the oldest ancestral gods.

When wood elves on rare occasions form a blood bowl team and leave Athel Loren, they do so as a celebration of the animal within them, to feel their blood rushing through them, to dance and weave past opponents, and to be entoxicated be the sweet taste of victory. And there are few teams that can stop them from doing so.

The epitome of elegance, the wood elves ignore the violence preferred by so many other teams, relying on their natural athletic ability to keep them out of trouble and in the lead.
